Jimmy Tanghongs Headshot

For today's WBT Spotlight we sat down with CEO Jimmy Tanghongs of The New Modern Home who builds timeless, world-class, self-sufficient homes in the greater Dallas/Fort Worth area. These homes focus on superior designs, utilizing top craftsmanship, while eliminating greenhouse gas emission, cold water waste, and home maintenance.

Q: What's special about your houses that no one else does?
Home in Texas built by The New Modern Home

"A feature that makes us different is our homes power themselves. Just like your typical Kroger or Chick-fil-A, we add a 12-18 inch wall hiding a 3 inch tall panel with an inverter that produces all the power. The inverter is typically in the garage next to the breaker box. We also use tankless hot water heaters, spray foam insulation, etc. Most big builders are moving to tankless water heaters but they haven't moved to spray foam insulation yet."

Q: What locations are you in and where are you headed next?

"Right now we are actually moving toward the Garland townhome community. I wanted to sell homes that were affordable homes that power themselves but everyone could buy. I started in Frisco between $500,000-$750,000 depending on the size of the home but due to inflation our costs have been pushed up to the $750,00 to $1.1 Million range so in an attempt to get the prices back down were moving to town homes which will push the costs down into the 400's."

Q: Are there any bonuses or incentives coming up that you would like to share with our clients & partners?

"Right now you can get a 26% federal tax credit for a solar panel system. So for example with a $30,000 system, you would get 26% off of that which is about $7,800. So if someone owed that much in taxes they would get that back and help them save. Not to mention saving on your electric bill regularly due to the solar panel system."
